Yahrzeit Memorial.jpg

Last night was Yom Kippur, the most important Jewish holiday of the year. It is the day where you're supposed to attone for your sins, and that you greet people saying, "may you be inscribed into the book of life." Or at least, that's what I remember being told way back in Hebrew school.

It is also a day that we remember loved ones who have passed away. This Yahrzeit candle was lit in memory of my mom's father, who died before I was born. When I walked into the house late last night, it was lighting up the kitchen, and will burn for 24 hours.
