White Rue Labelle

White Rue Labelle.jpg

This is the second and favorite picture in the series from Tremblant. If you look at the direct center of the image you can see the bridge I was standing on to take yesterday's picture. Another hazardous shot, to take this one I had to be standing in the middle of the road, just at the end of a rather sharp turn.

There is a lot I like about this picture. Following what seems to have become part of my style, I like the general monochrome feel that has one area of color in it. I also like the composition, with the road going off into the distance, and the mountain in the middle. I like the sign on the road. I do wish it were a little larger, but in order to make it larger I would have had to push it more to the edge of the picture, or not take the picture from the middle of the road, but of which I thought would have made the image worse.

Processing-wise, I did not have to do much. I adjusted the contrast a bit and made the yellow stick out a little bit more. Adjusting the curves made the vingetting in the corners stand out a little more. I had never seen vingetting from this lens before, which I had not expected to find at the long end of the lens, but think it adds a bit to the sky. If it weren't there to start, I probably would have burned in the edges of the sky myself. Overall, I'm very happy with this shot.
