Birthday Pie

Another snapshot, but another one I love. This one is from back in September. At midnight on the 20th, there was a knock on my door. "Come upstairs, it's Tess' birthday." I went up to find a fresh, hot, delicious apple caramel crumb pie. Tess was just as surprised.
As for the picture, I think it captured her happiness and surprise really well (and she likes it too :-) ). Processing, I did the gassian blur/soft light trick to get rid of some noise and to dim the background a bit, and then further blurred the right side of the background. This is one of those picture situations which makes you really appreciate being able to simple bump the camera up to ISO 1600 without too much worry, and still get a decent picture, something you'd never be able to get with film.
