Not having a photoblog means I have a backlog of pictures to put up. I'm trying to be semi-selective, but I still think it'll be a week or two before I've exhausted the supply of pictures I want to put up. I'm giving myself about 10 days for pictures from my China excursion over the summer, then another week or so for pictures since then. and I suppose anything before that I can use during dry spells afterwards.
This picture was taken along a road that leads up into the mountains outside of Ji Xian, China. The "model" is the lovely Yan Yan, who is now in first year teaching English in the city of Tianjin, China. We had been taking a morning walk when I noticed something interesting on the ground. My intention in this photograph was to get the detail of the bug while also capturing her expression. I'm still not sure how much explaining how I thought about the picture changes what people notice, so I won't say more for now.
