In the very center of Xian is a Bell Tower. Built in the 1300s, the city extends from th tower in all directions, but still seems very grounded by it. My favorite night in the ity was spent just walking around the markets within a few blocks of the tower. Yesterday's picture was taken maybe 3 blocks away.
It took a while to figure out how to capture the magnificence of the tower. Of course I didn't have a tripod, so I managed by placing the camera on a railling, then using my wallet to support the lens and get the right angle. I think I managed to show the scale of it, and also show the energy of the area. My time in Xian was my favorite time in China, and this is perhaps my favorite picture from the trip.
