Happy Thanksgiving!.jpg

Happy Thanksgiving! As a short break from China pictures, this was taken tonight at my family's Thanksgiving Day dinner. It was quite possibly one of the best Thanksgivings I can remember.

As for the photo, I had a few intentions. I wanted to somehow capture the expanse of food there was on the table. I wanted to capture the rush and excitement of people eating. Second, I just got a new lens, a Sigma 10-20mm lens, and I wantd to take a decent picture with it. After failing to figure out a horiontal way to artfully capture the able that went from one side of the house to the other, I instead found a bird's eye view was most effective. Also pictured is my wonderful Grandma Sophie.

This shot is by no means perfect - it was handheld at 1/10", and when you get home at 3:45am, it's hard to spend more than 20 minutes in post-production. Nonetheless, I happen to like it a lot.

You should have used a fish-eye lens. (I've always wanted to take a picture of a tea party at a round table with a fish-eye lens...) And Mark says you need to check the date; it says that picture was taken on the 27th. Which is tomorrow...
